| Criteria | Excellent (10) | Proficient (8) | Developing (5) | Incomplete (0–2) |
| Interpret provided results screenshot: identify max stress location, displacement, min FoS, and write 2-sentence summary |
All 4 elements correct. Summary demonstrates understanding of what FoS means practically. |
3 of 4 elements correct. Summary present but imprecise. |
1–2 elements correct. Summary vague or missing. |
Not attempted |
Section 5: Print Documentation (10 pts)
| Criteria | Excellent (10) | Proficient (8) | Developing (5) | Incomplete (0–2) |

Settings correct but screenshot missing one parameter. Or 3+ specimens but naming convention incomplete. |
Settings partially correct. Fewer than 3 specimens. Or no labeling. |
Missing documentation |
Section 6: Physical Testing (15 pts)
| Criteria | Excellent (5 ea.) | Proficient (4 ea.) | Developing (2 ea.) | Incomplete (0) |
| Data sheet completeness |
All load steps recorded with mass, force, deflection. Failure clearly noted. |
Most steps recorded, minor gaps |
Significant gaps or only failure recorded |
Missing |
| Calculations |
Flexural stress and modulus correctly calculated with work shown |
One calculation correct, one with minor error |
Formulas identified but significant math errors |
Missing |
| Specimen photo |
Clear photo showing failure location with label visible |
Photo present but failure location unclear |
Photo present but poor quality, can't see failure |
Missing |
Section 7: Comparison + Reflection (20 pts)
| Criteria | Excellent (10 ea.) | Proficient (8 ea.) | Developing (5 ea.) | Incomplete (0–2) |
| Comparison table |
All fields complete. Percent error correctly calculated. Failure location comparison includes Y/N match assessment. |
Table complete but percent error has minor calculation error |
Table partially complete or significant errors |
Missing |
| Written reflection (3–5 sentences) |
States percent error. Names 2+ specific, plausible error sources. Proposes specific improvements for closer match. |
States percent error. Names 1 error source. Proposes a general improvement. |
Vague reflection without specific analysis |
Missing or single sentence |
Section 8: The ABS Trap — Advanced (25 bonus pts)
| Criteria | Excellent (pts shown) | Proficient | Developing | Incomplete |
| Side-by-side comparison table (10 pts) |
All three columns complete (default ABS, corrected ABS, physical). Percent errors calculated for both. |
Table complete but one percent error incorrect (8) |
Table partially complete (5) |
Missing (0) |

Grade Scale
| Score | Grade | Description |
| 90–100 | A | Thorough understanding. Accurate calculations. Insightful reflection. |
| 80–89 | B | Solid understanding. Minor errors in calculations or reflection. |
| 70–79 | C | Basic understanding. Some gaps in documentation or analysis. |

| < 60 | F | Incomplete. Major sections missing. |
Advanced Credit
Section 8 points (up to 25) are added on top of the 100-point core. A student who earns 92/100 on the core + 22/25 on Section 8 = 114/100. Handle as extra credit per your grading policy.
