School Safety

Keeping our students and staff safe is our highest priority

Corvallis School District maintains comprehensive safety plans at every school. Our staff regularly trains on emergency procedures, and we coordinate closely with local law enforcement and emergency responders to ensure the safety of our school communities.

Emergency Procedures

Each school has detailed plans for a range of emergency scenarios, including fire, earthquake, lockdown, and severe weather. Schools conduct regular drills throughout the year so students and staff are prepared. In the event of an emergency, families will be notified through our mass communication system by phone, email, and text.

Reunification Procedures

If an emergency requires students to be relocated, CSD 509J follows established reunification procedures. Parents and guardians will be directed to a designated reunification site where they can pick up their children. Bring a valid photo ID. Details are shared at the beginning of each school year and during emergencies.

SafeOregon Tip Line SafeOregon is a statewide school safety tip line. These plans are reviewed and updated annually. If you have questions about your school's safety procedures, contact your school's main office or the district's Safety & Risk Management department.

Special Education & Multilingual Services

Supporting every learner with individualized resources and multilingual access

Special Education

CSD 509J provides a full continuum of special education services for students with disabilities from birth through age 21. Our special education team works collaboratively with families to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans tailored to each student's unique needs.

If you have concerns about your child's learning or development, contact your child's teacher or school to request an evaluation. The district's Student Growth & Experience department oversees all special education services.

IEP & 504 Plans An IEP outlines specialized instruction and related services for students who qualify under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). A 504 plan provides accommodations for students with disabilities who need support to access the general education curriculum. Both are developed with parent involvement.

Multilingual Services

Our students and families speak 74 languages across the district. CSD 509J is committed to ensuring that all families, regardless of language, can fully participate in their child's education.

The district's multilingual family liaisons provide interpretation and translation services, help families navigate school systems, and connect families with community resources. Liaisons are available in multiple languages including Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin, and many others.
